Here are some things. It is a very beautiful place. To visit. Living here is another thing.
It is very expensive. Restaurants and bars obviously yes. But I’m talking about shops; LIDL. It seems to be even cheaper in Cardiff than what it is like here. Maybe it is just the currency exchange, or the fact that I am not working here and so have to work on a tighter budget.
But I have always looked for ways of making my life easier and better. Since food is quite important for me, it is one of those things that I’ll keep trying until I come to the right place.
Italy is famous for having Mercati (markets). On different days, in different places and for different things (fruit and veg, fish, meat, clothes, books, etc). From experience I know that markets are the best way of buying cheap and delicious foods.
So, Molly and I visited the Mercato Rialto . I had read before that it was a good place for fruit, veg and fish. Indeed it was.
I will go and check some others out next week. I am really hoping I will be able to find a market that sells art supplies. Since the uni does not provide us with materials, we need to find them. They are very expensive (even after student discount) and I am on a budget.
After the market, we came back home to drop the stuff. I bought potatoes and a Basil plant for my sauces. I do like to cook.
In the afternoon, we went to see the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, in Dorsoduro. I had heard they had a Jackson Pollock exhibition and I was eager to see it!
For some reason we ended up going in for free!!! The lady at the desk said the Accademia students did not have to pay to get in (which was really a treat 🙂
I WILL MAKE ANOTHER POST WITH THE THINGS THAT MOST INTERESTED ME FROM THE GALLERY. I THINGS THAT DESERVES A WHOLE OTHER POST BECAUSE IT WAS PRETTY AWESOME STUFF
In the night we went out with some other Erasmus girls.
For some reason it feels as if I manage to get more done here with my day than I do in Cardiff. I have been waking up and going to bed around the same time I do home. I don’t know if the distances feel shorter.
Really I have had the week off pretty much. Next week is a busy one with uni. Need to go in and get definite “YES” from the lecturers to make sure I am in their lessons.
Today I am going to try to find the Library. It would be good if I manage, and even more of a treat if there is INTERNET there (a commodity that doesn’t seem to exist here!)
